Family-Owned. Family-Operated. Proudly Serving Seniors for 40 Years.
Since 1986, The Cedars has been honored to assist thousands of seniors and their loving families and caregivers.
As a family-owned and operated community, The Cedars of Austin has always focused on what matters most: care, compassion, and connection. These values guide everything we do—from the way our team supports residents, to the relationships we build with families, to the everyday moments that make life here feel comfortable and familiar.
“The Cedars Way” is reflected in hands-on family involvement and a thoughtfully selected, well-trained team dedicated to honoring the dignity, independence, and well-being of every resident. For 40 years, this steady approach has shaped who we are today. We are grateful to the families who place their confidence in us and allow us to care for the people who matter most.

The History of The Cedars
The inaugural stage of "The Cedars" emerged from the transformation of a pre-existing structure that originally served as a Holiday Inn Hotel before evolving into The Red Cedar Inn. In 1985, Darrel Farr undertook a comprehensive renovation of The Red Cedar Inn, giving rise to the establishment known as The Cedars of Austin.
Formerly known as The Red Cedar Inn, this locale boasted an optimal downtown location, offering convenience to various amenities. Positioned along the picturesque Red Cedar River, the site featured a noteworthy commercial kitchen and dining room called the Robin Hood Room. Additionally, the old Red Cedar Inn incorporated a floor dedicated to conference space, seamlessly adaptable for communal purposes such as the dining room, chapel, library, and other recreational functions.
