Family-Owned. Family-Operated. Proudly Serving Seniors for 40 Years.

Since 1986, The Cedars has been honored to assist thousands of seniors and their loving families and caregivers.

As a family-owned and operated community, The Cedars of Austin has always focused on what matters most: care, compassion, and connection. These values guide everything we do—from the way our team supports residents, to the relationships we build with families, to the everyday moments that make life here feel comfortable and familiar.

“The Cedars Way” is reflected in hands-on family involvement and a thoughtfully selected, well-trained team dedicated to honoring the dignity, independence, and well-being of every resident. For 40 years, this steady approach has shaped who we are today. We are grateful to the families who place their confidence in us and allow us to care for the people who matter most.

The History of The Cedars

The Cedars began as a reimagining of an existing property. Originally built as a Holiday Inn Hotel, the building later became The Red Cedar Inn. In 1985, Darrel Farr led a full renovation of the property, transforming it into what is now known as The Cedars of Austin.

The site’s downtown location made it an ideal setting, with easy access to nearby amenities. The building itself offered unique advantages, including a commercial kitchen and dining space known as the Robin Hood Room. A dedicated conference level also allowed for flexible use, supporting shared spaces such as a dining room, chapel, library, and areas for recreation and gathering.
