Since opening our doors in 1986, we’ve remained family-owned and operated, providing the kind of stability, trust, and personal connection that only decades of consistent leadership can bring.
Caring for the Caregiver: Monthly Alzheimer’s & Dementia Support Group at The Cedars of Austin
We host a monthly Alzheimer’s/Dementia Caregivers Support Group, designed specifically to provide education, emotional encouragement, and social connection for caregivers. Whether you're navigating the early stages of memory loss with a loved one or managing the complexities of more advanced dementia care, this group is a welcoming place to find support, resources, and understanding.
To me, commitment is the foundation for growing a vibrant community.
We embrace these challenges, knowing that our work goes beyond simply preparing food. We strive to create a sense of home for our residents, ensuring every meal is a moment of connection and care.
I took a leap of faith and entered a whole new world of senior living.
Over the years, I have met so many wonderful seniors, families, and coworkers. They all have a special place in my heart. I feel so blessed to have been part of many journeys that have shaped and inspired me into who I am today.
It’s not just activities, it’s life.
The light clicked, and I just knew what I wanted to do. I wanted to become a Therapeutic Recreational Therapist working with children. As I was unaware of my future, behold, I would end up working with the opposite generation.
My Hometown.
There have been so many instances of caring for family, friends, teachers, etc. It has really been a gift working in my hometown and getting to return the favor to those who taught/cared for me.
My Mission: Providing Quality Care Seniors Deserve.
When I was a caregiver, I took great pride in being able to provide quality care for dementia residents that other aides had a hard time with. I found that it is in how you approach residents. I try to help them maintain their dignity and offer them choices.
How I Got Hooked into Senior Living
There were so many wonderful residents, with one in particular named Norma. She had my heart! I loved that she was always smiling, laughing, and happy to see us. She loved to sing and dance with anyone who was nearby. I loved Norma.
The Cedar of Austin ‘Cedar Singers’ are back!
Following an absence of almost four years, the Cedars Singers have returned triumphantly to the stage on January 11, 2024.
