Caring for the Caregiver: Monthly Alzheimer’s & Dementia Support Group at The Cedars of Austin
Caring for someone with Alzheimer’s or another form of dementia can be deeply rewarding—but also emotionally and physically exhausting. At The Cedars of Austin, we understand the unique challenges caregivers face, and we believe no one should walk this journey alone.
That’s why we host a monthly Alzheimer’s/Dementia Caregivers Support Group, designed specifically to provide education, emotional encouragement, and social connection for caregivers. Whether you’re navigating the early stages of memory loss with a loved one or managing the complexities of more advanced dementia care, this group is a welcoming place to find support, resources, and understanding.
What to Expect
Led by Support Group Facilitator Cathy Ehley, each session offers more than just a listening ear. Caregivers who attend will:
Gain Educational Tools: Learn techniques and strategies to help care for someone with dementia, from communication tips to behavior management.
Build Problem-Solving Skills: Share challenges and successes with other caregivers who understand your journey—and leave with fresh ideas you can apply at home.
Take Care of You: We encourage and support caregivers in maintaining their own health—both emotionally and physically. Because to give your best, you need to feel your best.
Connect with a Community: Sometimes, just knowing you're not alone makes all the difference. Our support group fosters real connection among those who get it.
Whether you’re a spouse, adult child, friend, or neighbor, if you’re providing care for someone living with dementia, this group is for you.
