Family Appreciation

Posted by Cedars on March 20, 2020

My husband and I can’t thank you enough for what you are doing at the Cedars in Austin.  We were always impressed with your outstanding work at the Cedars. My mom loves the place and ALL of the workers.  You have an outstanding staff.

Thanks again and God Bless all of you.

Cedars COVID-19 Statement

Posted by Cedars on March 18, 2020

March 17, 2020

We have implemented a number of procedures and taken action to keep our residents and staff safe in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

This includes restricting access to our community to staff, residents and essential medical vendors and visitors.  All residents, staff, vendors and visitors are screened prior to being permitted to enter.

We are still accepting new admissions, but they must be screened prior to move in and special move-in procedures will apply.

Enhanced infection control and disinfection policies and procedures are in place.  Staff are also receiving additional training and supervision. We have also modified our congregate dining and activity programming.

We continue to monitor guidance and information provided by CDC, MDH, industry leaders and other governmental organizations, and will be making changes as determined necessary moving forward.

We are providing extra support to our staff during this challenging time and are committed to responding to any questions or concerns our residents and their loved ones may have.  As always, our priority remains keeping our residents and staff safe and providing exceptional care and service.

Thank you,

Jack’s Cooking Corner

Posted by Cedars on December 18, 2014

Chef Jack’s Cooking Corner is known for some of the most delicious recipe’s. This holiday we would like to share Chef Jack’s warm winter  pick.

Warm Winter Lemon Cake

  • 1 pkg yellow cake mix
  • 2 pkg Jell-o lemon flavor instant pudding (3.5 oz pkg)
  • 1/3 c. granulated sugar
  • 2 c. cold milk
  • 1 1/4 c. water
  • 2 Tbsp. powdered sugar

Heat oven to 350. Prepare cake batter as directed on the back of the package; pour into 13×9 inch baking pan, sprayed with cooking spray. Beat dry pudding mixes, granulated sugar, milk and water with whisk 2 minutes, pour over batter in dish. Place baking dish on baking sheet. Bake 55 minutes to 1 hour until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool 20 minutes (sauce will thicken slightly as cools). Sprinkle with powder sugar and serve warm.

Happy Holidays and enjoy.

Chef Jack held his Fall Harvest Cooking Show at the Mower County Senior Center today and filled the room with over 100 people. The Cooking Show featured a full dinner menu. Jack also put together an appetizer table with Corn Beef Dip and Apple Pie Dip followed with his own signature Holiday Martini. Chef Jack’s new release was announced, his first ever recipe booklet featuring all of his favorite pie recipes. The show was a great success and look for Chef Jack’s Christmas Social in December.photophotophoto

Welcome!

Posted by Cedars on September 30, 2014

Welcome to The Cedars of Austin’s new and improved website and our first blog post! We hope you’ll find this site a valuable resource and tool. The new website gives us a fresh look and feel and is also easy for us to update. This means that we’ll be better able to add news and information on a regular basis. When creating our new website we focused on maximum functionality and ease of use combined with higher quality of content. Basically we want to make sure that the good information is easy to find!

Our new website features in depth information on The Cedars. Read the story behind The Cedars – how Darrel Farr chose the site and how it is still family owned and operated. Meet our fantastic staff, view our floor plans, learn about the range of customized housing and healthcare services we provide as well as our unique activity and wellness programming and so much more.

One new feature we are particularly excited about is “Your Opinion Matters.” This feature allows you to easily tell us what you think, give feedback, or make suggestions.  We can’t wait to hear everything you have to say!

Just as before, you are still able to access our current Activity Calendars, Menus and our monthly newsletter – the Cedars Chatter. This way far-away friends and family members can experience what their loved ones are up to.

Our new website features lots of pictures and videos, making it easy to see what residents experience every day! Take a look at our building features as well as our beautiful campus and wonderful residents. If you are a new visitor we hope you enjoy getting to know us. If you are a returning visitor, we hope you enjoy getting to know us better!

We hope you will check our blog often for updates about The Cedars, our residents, staff, resources and news on senior related issues.

As we continue to grow and adapt to the changing times, The Cedars of Austin remains committed to providing quality senior housing with services. We strongly encourage feedback on our new website to continue enriching the lives of our residents, their loved ones and future residents.
